Who is Basem?
Basem has extensive managerial and operational experience in both the cannabis and real estate and cannabis sectors.
Basem earned his HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2007 and has over ten years of experience in the real estate sector where he has held positions with First Capital Realty (FCR.TO), The Rose Corporation and Almega Co. For the last seven years, Basem has been the CEO and operational lead for Almega Co.
As co-founder and former CEO of TerrAscend Corp. (TER.CN), Basem was the operational lead for the company from its inception in January 2014. He oversaw all aspects of the business including licensing, capital markets, construction and staffing and resigned his position as CEO in January 2018. Now he is the chairman of the board of directors at TREC Brands Inc; a company he co-founded. TREC is a premium cannabis brands holding company that sets itself apart with a mission to bring “conscious cannabis” to the market.
